New Delhi: As social activist Anna Hazare launches a new round of protest from Jantar Mantar in the national capital on Sunday to press for the passage of the Lokpal Bill, political parties debate over what constitutes a strong Lokpal Bill.

Lokpal Bill: Who stands where

The BJP

- Provision in the Bill for setting up state Lokayuktas is against federal structure.

- Quota for minorities in the Lokpal Bill is unconstitutional.

Left

- The Lokpal Bill should have a separate investigation wing.

- The selection panel for the Lokpal Bill should be more broadbased.

- Corporates too must be be included under the ambit of the Lokpal.

Other parties

- Parties like the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal (United), Lok Janashakti Party (LJP) oppose the provision which allows for taking action against an MP before the trial against him is over.

- Leaders like Lalu Prasad and Mulayam Singh Yadav are against the inclusion of the prime minister under the ambit of the Lokpal.

- They are also against the wide policing powers being demanded for the Lokpal.
