District Minister S A Ramdas on Sunday urged the Congress to lead state’s all-political parties team which would try and convince Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to reconsider the Cauvery water order.
He told reporters on Sunday that Singh should have considered Karnataka’s request and sent a team of experts to study the situation before directing the state to release water.
Expressing displeasure over Cauvery River Authority (CRA) for not considering the state petition, Ramdas said: “We had hopes till Saturday 10 pm that the Prime Minister may consider our request. But it did not happen. Therefore, as per the directions of the CRA and the apex court, 3,600 cusecs of water is being released in addition to the existing outflow of 5,400 cusecs of water to match the total release of 9,000 cusecs of water.” Defending the present government, the minister said, it tried its best to convince the PM to keep in abeyance his order to release water to Tamil Nadu. But Singh did not considered it, Ramdas added.
