PATHANAMTHITTA: The five-member Survey Department team headed by district survey superintendent R Radhakrishnan on Monday began the demarcation and resuming of Thiruvabharanam procession route land under the possession of Harrisons Malayalam estate at Laha.The survey work of the 3.5-km Thiruvabharanam route, which passes through  the HML rubber estate land from Koonamkara to Laha Forest Inspection Bungalow, was under the directive of District Collector P Venugopal, who visited the disputed estate land along with Ranni DFO R Kamalahar, last week.The demarcation and resuming of land, having a width of eight metres, would be completed by Thursday.The resumed Thiruvabharanam procession land at the estate would be handed over to the Perunad grama panchayat for civil work so that the Thiruvabharanam procession would have a smooth passage.For the successful completion of the demarcation and resuming of Thiruvabharanam procession path, survey deputy director Thomas Varghese was at the the site to supervise the operation.The Sabarimala Thiruvabharanapatha Samrakshana Samithi leaders urged the District Collector to take stringent action against the Village Office authorities of Kulanada and Mezhuveli for the failure shown in initiating follow-up action in demarcation and resumption of land under the custody of individuals.
