'Kya Dilli Kya Lahore' tweet review: The film deserves applause for its emotional complexity
The film shows what happens when an Indian solider, originally from Lahore, gets to talk to a Pakistani soldier.

Partition, the most traumatic and harrowing chapter in the history of India, has always been the subject of numerous Bollywood films. From rapes, riots to mayhem that India-Pakistan partition, the most brutal upheavals of the 20th century lead to, the filmmakers have used virtually every aspect to recount its loss, pain and horror. If 2013 saw the release of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' which explained the impact that the assassination of athlete Milkha Singh's family during partition left on him, actor Vija Raaz's directorial venture 'Kya Dilli Kya Lahore', which release today, too echoes the pain of Partition.

Set immediately after India's Independence, 'Kya Dilli Kya Lahore' shows what happens when an Indian solider, originally from Lahore, gets to talk to a Pakistani soldier who had lived all his life in Delhi's Chandni Chowk but shifted to Lahore after Partition.

"Lakeerein hain toh rehne do, kisi ne rooth kar gusse mei shayad kheench di. Inhi ko ab banao balaa aur aao kabaddi khelte hain. Lakeerein hain toh rehne do," which has been taken from Gulzar's poem explains what the film has to offer. Featuring Manu Rishi, Raj Zutshi and Vishwajeet Pradhan, 'Kya Dilli Kya Lahore' is a spoof on Indo-Pak relationship and offers a hilarious yet emotional story of a bond shared by an Indian and a Pakistani soldier stationed at the border.

Will Vijay Raaz, who has impressed cine-goers for his memorable performances in Mira Nair's 'Monsoon Wedding', 'Delhi Belly' and 'Delhi 6′, be as impressive as a director too?
