MADURAI: The Director General of Police was directed by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday to file his reply to a petition seeking CB-CID investigation in a case of land grabbing in Kodaikanal.Uthamchand Galada, of T Nagar, Chennai, in a petition filed before the Bench, had said that he had bought 3.98 acres of land owned by the heirs of John Tapp, of England, through a power of attorney. Mani Aiyar who was occupying a portion of the land vacated the place without any problem.Xavier Michael, occupying another portion of it, refused to vacate and action was taken through courts. Michael and his son, John Roger, later submitted a plea to the DGP stating that he had forcibly acquired their land. The DSP had submitted a report stating that their claim was not true.Meanwhile, they decided to give 25 cents to Roger at another place through another person, Ruban, on humanitarian grounds. The father and son duo agreed to this offer. But, due to alleged instigation by some persons, they filed a complaint to the Dindigul SP against the petitioner and some others.Ruban had filed a petition seeking the quashing of the case and anticipatory bail, the petitioner had said. He had also prayed for the transfer of the case to CB-CID. Justice R Sudhakar directed issue of notice to the DGP, SP of Dindigul, and the Inspector of Police, Kodaikanal.
