Terming the existing land acquisition laws in Uttar Pradesh as flawed, the Ambawat faction of the Kisan Union has threatened to launch a phased agitation in the state from June 15 if they are not immediately annulled.
Addressing a conference of the Union here on Wednesday, Ambawat faction leader Chaudhry Rishipal Ambawat demanded immediate abrogation of the existing land acquisition laws in UP failing which the union will lay siege to the state Assembly on June 15.
He said Union activists will also begin a jail bharo and rail roko agitation across the state if their concerns are not addressed. The Union also demanded a compensation for land acquired by the government for Deoband-Roorkee rail track on the lines of GAIL and accused the successive governments of not fulfilling their promise of loan waivers to farmers.
