The Kerala Police have registered an FIR against a youth for allegedly joining terrorist group ISIS. A native of Kozhikode, Riyas-ul-Rehman, is suspected to be in Syria currently.

The youth has also been alleged to be recruiting youth to ISIS through social media.

Riyas had been living in the UAE with his family for several years, and went missing from Ras Al Khaima nearly two months back. According to sources, UAE police is also investigating the case.

The family of the youth was deported to India a week back.

This comes two days after an alleged ISIS recruiter Afsha Jabeen alias Nicky Joseph was sent to police custody for 10 days.

She was arrested by police at the Hyderabad airport here on September 11 after she was deported from Dubai along with her husband and three children.

While luring youth online to join the terror group, Afsha was using fictitious name Nicky Joseph and claiming to be a British national.

Police came to know about her in January this year when Salman, a US returned engineer, was arrested at Hyderabad airport while leaving for Dubai. He had told police that he along with the woman planned to go to Syria to join ISIS.

During the questioning after her arrest on September 11, she told police that was running Facebook groups to recruit youth. She reportedly confessed that she is a strong supporter of ISIS as the group stopped Syrian President Bashar al-Assad from committing atrocities on Sunnis and wanted to establish Sharia.
