Spyker dropped one of their drivers and are looking for a replacement.

New Delhi: India's Narain Karthikeyan may soon be seen burning up the Formula One streets once again after being linked to the Ferrari powered Spyker F1 team.

Spyker recently dropped Dutch driver Christijan Albers and are looking for a suitable replacement, and Karthikeyan is one of the candidates.

Karthikeyan currently is test driving for the Williams F1 team after his stint with Jordan in 2005, a fourth place finish at the US Grand Prix being his best.

Spyker boss Collin Kolles, who earlier worked with Karhtikeyan at Jordan, confirmed the reports that his team was considering the Indian's chances.

"Colin had a chat with me at Silverstone," the 30-year-old driver told the news agency Reuters. "I'll be delighted to get back to racing, but I'm definitely enjoying my time at Williams."

His manager Mark Perkins, who expects a decision in the next few days, told Reuters from Monaco: "Spyker hope Narain can do a better job than Albers is doing at the moment. We will know by the end of the week."

Perkins said the Indian driver also had an offer from Racing Engineering in the GP2 series. Any decision would depend on how Karthikeyan viewed his future career. "One would hope the performance of the team (Spyker) would improve through the year," he added.

Karthikeyan and Austrian driver Christian Klein, currently testing for Honda, are being targeted as possible replacements for Albers.
