THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Nedumangad police on Sunday arrested two persons in connection with the twin murder of Shyam and Praveen that took place four days ago. The arrested were identified as Manu 20, of IHDP Colony, Chakkalamukal near Karakulam, and Shaji 29, of Sreenagar, near Manikanteswaram. Both of them have been booked as the seventh and 11th accused in the case respectively. The police said that Manu was a dancer with a professional dance troupe based in Vattiyoorkavu, the members of which are suspected to have carried out the murders, while Shaji was a plumber by profession. They had stated before the police that it was indeed the dispute that arose over the sale of a bike that went awry between the accused and the victims that resulted in the double murder. They have also given the police valuable information regarding the other suspects who are all absconding, said the police. The police will produce Manu and Shaji before the court on Monday. Police Nab Vehicle-lifterThe Poojappura police on Sunday arrested a 31-year-old notorious motorcycle lifter. The person has been identified as Ajay Simon of Arumanoorkada, near Neyyattinkara. The Poojappura police has been on a lookout for him on charges of lifting the motorcycle of one Padmakumar from Poojappura junction on Wednesday last. The police said that several vehicle-lifting cases existed in his name at various police stations in the city, including Kazhakkoottam, Medical College and Pettah. He was arrested by a team of police led by Museum Circle Inspector Mohanan Nair and Poojappura Sub-Inspector Saju Antony following a tip-off received by the police. Meanwhile, on the same day, the Poojappura police also arrested two other wanted criminals, who had been evading arrest for the past 12 years. The police identified the accused as Ajayakumar of Thirumala and Vinod Aravind of Attingal. They were wanted by the police for several criminal cases registered at various police stations. They were also arrested following a tip-off.
