Last year's Tamil horror comedy 'Kanchana', later dubbed into Telugu, will now be re-released in 3D format and its producer promises that the movie will scare the wits out of the audiences.
"3D films are quite famous in Hollywood and we have slowly started using it in Indian films. Horror in 3D looks scary, and with 'Kanchana' we want to make it three times scarier," producer Bellam Konda Suresh said.
Suresh, who produced the dubbed Telugu version of 'Kanchana', is releasing 3D version in both Tamil and Telugu.
Ragava Lawrencce had directed and acted in the scary movie 'Kanchana' and the makers plan to introduce a special song featuring him for the 3D Version, but they will keep rest of the story unchanged.
In 'Kanchana', Ragava played a happy and lucky guy possessed by ghost of an eunuch who must avenge his death.
"The 3D work of the film has been handed over to a third party and the film will hit the screens in six months from now," added the producer.
Made at a budget of Rs.8 crore, 'Kanchana' was also written and produced by Ragava. The Tamil film collected a whopping price of Rs.30 crore, while Telugu version did a business of Rs.5 crore at the box office.
Now the film is being remade in Kannada as 'Kalpana' with Upendra in the lead, while Telugu actor Sai Kumar will play eunuch, originally played by Sarath Kumar in Tamil version.
Talks are on for a Hindi remake. After a private screening of 'Kanchana', Bollywood star Akshay Kumar expressed his interest in the remake of the film. Meanwhile, Ragava plans to do sequels to 'Kanchana'.
