Srinagar: Combing operations are underway even 24 hours after three terrorists were killed in a gunbattle in the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists had crossed over from Pakistan and were killed near the Line of Control by the Indian soldiers.
"The infiltration bid was foiled in the wee hours on Sunday as a group of heavily armed terrorists were crossing the LoC," an army official said. This is the second infiltration bid by militants in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district within a week.
Three militants have been killed while the operation is still in progress, the official said. The bodies of the militants have been recovered along with three weapons.
"A contact was established with the heavily-armed militants at around 4.30 AM, leading to day-long operation," he said.
