Ranchi: Six Jharkhand Congress leaders on Saturday said that the UPA was intact in the state and dismissed speculation of any political realignment in the wake of imprisonment of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) chief Shibu Soren.
Sukhdev Bhagat and Niel Tirkey, who were among the six MLAs, met Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The leaders said that Sonia has told them to “carry on all development projects, including the centrally funded schemes, to ensure the state's progress.”
The leaders also said that there was no discussion on the political scenario in Jharkhand after the conviction of Soren and “nothing but development issues centred around the 40-minute meeting.”
Meanwhile, Bhagat said Sonia had asked the delegation to focus on collective opinion and proper coordination among allies.
Tirkey said the delegation also called on Chief Minister Madhu Koda who reached Delhi on Friday.
"There was some communication gap among allies which were plugged following the meeting with the Chief Minister," Tirkey told PTI.
"All our allies installed the Madhu Koda government, dislodging the corrupt NDA government. So it is our duty to set right any communication gap," Tirkey added.
The MLA-delegation also comprised of Pradeep Kumar Balmachu, Manoj Yadav, Sourav Narayan Singh and Gopal S N Shahdeo.
