For a smooth Season 2 IPL needs to release a schedule in two days.

Mumbai/New Delhi: The list of hurdles doesn't seem to end for IPL season 2. Now Suresh Kalmadi, head of the Commonwealth Games Committee, has said that the league should be pushed till after elections.

Kalmadi warns that any untoward incident during the IPL could compromise the Commonwealth Games slated to be held in Delhi next year.

The IPL is determined to conduct the tournament in the given dates. But they are keen on addressing the demands of various states regarding the dates of the event.

A three-member BCCI team led by secretary N Srnivasan met the Home Ministry for close to two hours on Monday and while both parties addressed each others concerns, they failed to reach a solution.

The Home Ministry asked the BCCI to make further changes to the itinerary, keeping state security concerns in mind.

And soon enough, the BCCI replied with a straight bat, pulling out another reworked schedule on the table.

The nitty-gritties in the schedule still need some debate and it could be a tough ask. Jaipur, for instance, has asked for extra para-military presence

Andhra Pradesh for instance demands no matches till April 24, yet another 28 days after that to sort out their home games.

With new options like Ahemedabad, Cuttack and Dharamsala, the IPL organisers can also breathe easy.

The urgency is upon IPL, for a smooth Season 2 they need to release a schedule in coming two days.

The organisers will be keeping their fingers crossed this time hoping their latest schedule gets the nod for the carnival to take off.
