THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Eram Scientific Solutions Pvt Ltd has received the innovative enterprise award at the International 2012 Manufacturing Leadership Awards for its Delight e-toilet project. Rajesh Kumar S V, general manager, Eram Scientific Solutions, received the award on behalf of the company at a function held at Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, the company said in a statement. The Manufacturing Leadership-100 Awards honour companies and individuals who contribute to the future of global manufacturing. Eram Scientific is the manufacturer of India’s first electronic public toilet. Eram Scientific was selected by Manufacturing Executive, the global community for manufacturing leadership and producer of the Manufacturing Leadership Summit and ML100 Awards programme. Features of the e-toilet developed by Eram include automated payment collection, door opening system, flushing, sterilisation and cleaning. GPRS system is also used for controlling the unit remotely. It does not require any manual cleaning, as it is fully mechanised/automatic. The self-cleaning system will take care of cleaning of the toilet floor also. Since the entire system is automatic, cleanliness is ensured throughout the operation of the system. In December 2011, an independent judging panel had reviewed the project.
