New Delhi: The Indian embassy in China has issued a statement warning Indian traders to avoid transaction in the Chinese city of Yiwu.

This comes just a day after an Indian diplomat was manhandled by hooligans inside a city court. The diplomat identified as S Balachandran was denied medication to control a severe diabetes condition.

Balachandran was reportedly providing consular assistance to two Indian businessmen standing trial in Yiwu.

Reports state that the two men were held under illegal detention for over a fortnight by Chinese traders. The Indians have now been moved from the police station to a hotel under police escort on Tuesday night.
