Toto or electric rickshaw is a common public transport in West Bengal. While it is believed to be environment-friendly, it has seating limitations. A traditional toto can seat only five passengers. Further, the jerks from the bumps on the roads often cause various fittings to come loose. But now, Chanchal Singh from Bankura has come up with a great idea to solve these two issues.
He previously grabbed the headlines for his innovative creation of an Electric Vehicle (EV) Jeep under Singh Motors. Now, he has come up with a new design for Toto. This new model of Toto can accommodate a football team easily. Even with a year of its use, there would be no creaking sound or loosening of parts. He has designed an 11-seater mega EV Toto, which will run on batteries and the operational costs will be minimal. He made it in just Rs 1 lakh and 20 thousand.
He has designed the vehicle to have a body made of steel and its suspension system will be of much better and higher quality than the regular electric rickshaws. This will offer passengers a superior level of comfort. The battery life of a regular toto lasts for up to 2 to 2.5 years without changing it. If one upgrades to a lithium battery, then it will last for up to five years.
Chanchal Singh believes that one will be able to reap profits from this 11-seater Toto of his. This unique toto has already begun operating on the roads of Bankura. If you want, you can even customise it as per your preferences as well.
The innovative creation of Toto shows how the Bankura District of West Bengal is quickly making developments and achieving remarkable feats in the fields of education and technology. It has been taking the challenges head-on and coming up with solutions to overcome them. Previously, Bankura also saw the innovation of a vehicle powered by solar energy and now an eleven-seater EV Toto.
