IJU warns of nation-wide agitation

HYDERABAD: Journalists have warned of launching a nation-wide agitation if the central government further delayed issuing a notification implementing the recommendations of the Justice Majithia Wage Board for working journalists and nonjournalists.A dharna was staged by journalists under the aegis of the IJU and the AP Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) here on Tuesday protesting against the inordinate delay in notification of the recommendations. Addressing the protestors, IJU secretary general K Srinivasa Reddy said freedom of press was not for the managements of the print and electronic media houses but for working journalists.APUWJ president D Soma Sundaram, general secretary Y Narendar Reddy, Kothagudem MLA K Sambasiva Rao, union leaders and about 150 journalists and non-journalists from various media organisations participated in the protest.
