Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Central University is expected to witness some drama on Tuesday as the 25 students who were granted bail on Monday are slated to return to campus. The students are, however, expected to attend the classes wearing black and blue ribbons as mark of protest.

This comes even as the university vice chancellor, Apparao Podile, has made an appeal to the students to resolve the issue and avoid confrontation.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the Congress party is also slated to meet President Pranab Mukherjee over the issue.

Twenty five students and two faculty members were arrested last week in connection with violence on campus. The protesting students had vandalised vice chancellor Apparao Podile's on-campus residence during the demonstrations as he rejoined the office after a two-month leave following the row over research scholar Rohith Vemula's suicide in a university hostel room.

Later, police resorted to lathicharge and arrested 25 of them, beside two faculty members. All of them were lodged in Cherlapally central prison.

They were booked on charges of damage to public property, trespass, preventing government officials from performing their duties, and other relevant sections of IPC in connection with the violence.

The students are slated to be released on Tuesday and are expected to address a press conference in the evening.
