How to cope with failure in love

TTHIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Failure in love is a heart-breaking experience for many. It puts one through immense pain and suffering and only time can heal the wounds. Four city students, who have passed through such a difficult phase in their lives, have come out with a short film on the subject.‘’We hope the film would inspire the youth not to quit a relationship for petty reasons,’’ said Amith Mohan, a BCom student, who scripted and directed the film. Producer Abhijith Nair, Joseph Thomas and Praveen T C H are also BCom students of Mar Ivanios College here.The short, titled ‘My Love Cost U Nothing’, is about four relationships, which are their life stories, said Amith. The team got the support from ace director Balu Kiriyath for the venture. ‘’He helped us in the direction and scripting,’’ said Amith. ‘’Love is losing relevance in the present world. We also wanted people to give more importance to relationships,’’ Abhijith said.All the four stories, different in their own way, end on a sad note. Amith, Abhijith, Joseph, Praveen, Dayana S Hameed, Anju, Jyothi and Athulya S play the lead in the stories.While a cheating partner failed the first relationship, over-feminism of the partner played spoilsport in the second. Possessiveness ruined the third relationship. And the fourth one is a story of waiting, in which one waits for long to open up his heart to his love. The young filmmakers also want parents to take their children’s relationships seriously.   ‘’Parents and adults view the issue as non-serious. But for the children, such relationships are very important, which if not accepted, could even lead them to untold misery,’’ they said. The team also had a bitter experience when two of their friends committed suicide after their relationships were not accepted by  parents.  Venu Sasidharan Lekha has done the cinematography. The dialogues are by Joseph Thomas and Praveen T C H.The premiere of the short film will be held at Sree Padmanabha Theatre on Saturday at 11 am.
