Models Wear ‘Rebellious’ Outfits At Kolkata Durga Puja Pandal, Spark Row On Internet
The controversy began when photos of former Miss Kolkata winners surfaced online and they could be seen wearing revealing outfits at a Durga Puja pandal.

Three models from Kolkata are facing backlash on social media for wearing bold outfits at a Durga Puja pandal. The controversy began when photos of Hemoshree Bhadra and Sannati Mitra, both former Miss Kolkata winners, along with their friend, surfaced online. In the pictures, one model wore a fitting black gown, while another donned a short orange dress with high boots. The third individual opted for a red blouse paired with black pants. Sannati described their looks as ‘rebellious’ on her Instagram post, but social media users disagreed and expressed their disappointment. People argued that their clothes were not suitable for a religious celebration.

Sharing the post, the model-influencer wrote, “It was so Rebellious, we never thought it was possible, being a girl we always knew our body was ‘BAD’ but life is like that it gives new examples and experiences.”

Reacting to the post, a user wrote, “I feel ashamed for her dressing in a holy place.” Another shared, “Stop this type of vulgarity on puja mandap. This is shameful.”

“This is not women empowerment. This is making fun of our sanatan dharm and on top of it, your naked souls are wearing shoes and sandals during darshan inside a pandal,” a comment read. Another noted, “Sharam karlo thodi, bhagwan ke samne to acche kapde pehen lo (Have some shame, at least wear good clothes in front of God).”

An individual shared, “Popularity ke liye ye log aur kitna girenge (How low will these people go for popularity)?” One more added, “No words to explain this nonsense. Our culture is heading towards the end.”

In another video, the models can be seen dancing, playing instruments and having a great time as they visit different Durga Puja pandals across Kolkata.

Their posts were also shared on X, where numerous users, including activist Deepika Bhardwaj, criticised the three women for attracting attention in such a way at a religious place.

Meanwhile, the five-day Durga Puja celebrations began on October 9. The festival focuses on performing various rituals, offering prayers and enjoying cultural events that honour goddess Durga.
