London: Australia's Lleyton Hewitt upset American Sam Querrey 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 Thursday at the Queen's Club grass-court tournament. In a matchup between two former Queen's champions, the 19th-ranked Querrey saved five break points in the first set but failed to convert five in the second. The 82nd-ranked Hewitt won the only break point of the final set to advance to the quarterfinals.

Top-seeded Andy Murray beat Frenchman Nicolas Mahut 6-3, 7-6 (4) to advance to the third round. The match had been suspended by rain at 2-2 in the first set on Wednesday. Murray saved all three break points and broke Mahut twice. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga struggled to a 6-3, 6-7 (2), 6-3 victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

Defending champion Marin Cilic saved a match point before cruising past Spanish qualifier Feliciano Lopez 4-6, 7-6 (5), 7-5. Lopez held a match point at 5-2 in the final set when Cilic double-faulted, but he couldn't capitalize. The fifth-seeded Croat swept the final five games. American Denis Kudla reached his first ATP tour quarterfinal with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Kenny De Schepper of France.

Hewitt, a four-time Queen's winner, will play Juan Martin del Potro after the 2009 U.S. Open champion topped British wild card Daniel Evans 6-0, 6-3. The third-seeded Argentine lost only eight points in the first set. Del Potro returned to competition after a respiratory virus caused him to miss the French Open.
