KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday directed the Secretary of the Local Self-Government Department, the Secretary of the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and the president and secretary of the Vilappil panchayat to appear before the Mediation Centre of the High Court on Thursday to resolve the Vilappilsala waste treatment plant issue. A Division Bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice P R Ramachandra Menon passed the order while considering a petition filed by the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation authorities seeking the court’s intervention in the issue. Advocate-General K P Dandapani expressed the readiness of the state government to go in for mediation to settle the dispute over waste management at the Vilappilsala plant. “With regard to the sensitive and vulnerable issues involved in waste management, the issue can be properly attended and resolved by an amicable settlement,” the court said.
