Six policemen, including an assistant sub-inspector, have been suspended in connection with the July 23 Pagar police firing incident here in which one person was killed, a police officer said here on Friday.
"Six police personnel, including ASI Mukti Narayan Singh, were suspended on July 24 following the incident," Superintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik said.
Besides lodging an FIR against all the policemen, the SP ordered departmental proceedings against them.
Meanwhile, the CPI's state unit secretary B P Mehta and the party's district secretary Ganesh Kumar staged a day-long demonstration near the office of Hazaribagh Deputy Commissioner against the police firing.
In a memorandum, the party demanded Rs 25 lakh as compensation to the family of the villager who died in the firing incident and government job to the dependents.
