SAMBALPUR: In his quest to cover as many areas as possible on the last day of campaigning for the panchayat poll on Thursday, senior BJD leader and Rajya Sabha member Pyarimohan Mohapatra addressed four public meetings. The BJD leader ignored his ill health to address gatherings seated in a chair at Jamankira, Maneswar and Goshala. He urged the voters to repose their confidence in the BJD. Aware that the people of Maneswar area were upset with the BJD Government over the proposed Sindol Hydro Power Project, Pyari tried to clarify the government’s stand on Sindol and turned the tables on the Centre. He said the State never wanted Sindol project and he had personally asked Sambalpur district BJD president Rohit Pujari to launch an agitation against it. In an indirect reference to the Centre, he blamed the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) for the misadventure.Pyari went to state that even Biju Babu was against the project and he has clear instructions that in case the project is required not a single person should be displaced. Targeting the Centre for all the ills, he dwelt on royalty issue and said not a single family would have been poor had the Centre given the State its due royalty. Speaking on the anti-farmer allegations by Congress, Pyari said while the State Government was providing farm loan at three per cent interest, the Centre was giving loan at 5 per cent. Berhampur MP Siddhant Mohapatra and Pujari were present.Deogarh: Pyarimohan Mohapatra on Thursday assured oustees of Rengali dam project that the State Government would pay then enhanced compensation package.Addressing a public gathering here, the MP said that problems of the oustees will be sorted out as soon as the government is taking the issue seriously.Pyari was accompanied by Siddhant Mohapatra.
