Chandigarh: Haryana Minister Anil Vij stirred a controversy after he donated Rs 50 lakh to Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
The minister claimed that he donated money as the Dera Sacha Sauda Stadium is encouraging sports.
"Dera Sacha Sauda MSG Stadium is giving a lot of encouragement to sports. In order to further promote the sports culture in Haryana, I have decided to give Rs 50 lakh from my personal fund. We will form a Sports Council after passing a bill in this session that will operate at different levels in the state. It will focus on Sports Performance at different levels," Vij said.
