BANGALORE: After receiving heavy rainfall over the last few days, Bangalore could well witness more showers this monsoon. According to officials from the Meteorological Department in Bangalore, the next few days could see gusty winds, rain and thundershowers.
Though officials ruled out abnormally high rainfall, they said persistent rain could occur as the monsoon has set in well. "Bangalore would see many days of cloudy skies," officials said. The South West monsoon has arrived on the expected dates, the officials said but added there would not be devastating rain like 2010.The west coast would receive consistent and heavy rainfall but ruled out chances of cloud bursts. On September 24, 2010, Bangalore was swamped by 113 mm of rain in a short span of time, paralysing traffic and life in the city. The Met Department said a similar situation was unlikely this year.

With the monsoon having set in, heavy rain was recorded in parts of the state and more showers were expected in the coming days.

In Uttara Kannada district, five coastal taluks of Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal received heavy rains on Thursday night. Sirsi and Mundgod too experienced incessant rains in the evening.
