Group thrashes two dalits in Ramnad

RAMANATHAPURAM: Two Dalit youth were beaten up by a group due to previous enmity at Kuyavankudi village near here on Friday.There was  enmity between two groups from Kuyavankudi and Muniyanvalasai villages. Kumar and Gurunathan of Muniyanvalasai were proceeding towards their village from Ramanathapuram on a two-wheeler when they were intercepted by the rival group. They attacked the two men in which Kumar sustained serious injuries while Gurunathan escaped with a minor injury.  The group fled the spot.  On information about the incident, residents of Muniyanvalasai resorted to picketing on the national highway demanding the arrest of  the offenders.Kumar was sent to the GH and Uchapuli police rushed to the spot and persuaded the gathering to disperse assuring them of early arrest of the offenders.
