Govt spikes Dinakaran's promotion to apex court
There are a number of charges against Justice PD Dinakaran.

New Delhi: Karnataka High Court Chief Justice PD Dinakaran will not be promoted to the Supreme Court with the Central Government deciding against accepting the apex court collegium’s recommendation to elevate him.

The Union Government says there is enough proof to link him to questionable land deals.

Chief Justice of India KG Balakrishnan was in favour of an independent inquiry into allegations that Justice Dinakaran had encroached upon public land but the Centre has said that there is enough evidence to not call for another inquiry.

Thiruvalur District Collector had confirmed earlier that Justice Dinkaran's family had indeed encroached upon public land.

Sources say that Intelligence Bureau has also confirming that Justice Dinakarn involved in the land scam.

Justice Dinakaran had rejected the collector's findings.

There are a number of charges against Justice Dinakaran including a disproportionate assets case. He is also charged with amassing 440 acres of land worth Rs 110 crore in Tiruvallur district in Tamil Nadu, part of which was government land.

The most recent allegation against him was that he ruled in favour of his friends in land dispute case.
