He was speaking after inaugurating the sports complex at Janaseva Sisubhavan at Meckad near Angamaly the other day.“The state has many talented youngsters. Proper facilities and expert training are required to tap their full potential. To promote those youngsters, mini sports centres will be set up in panchayats. The Sports Council has been directed to find out the panchayats which are willing to start such centres,” the minister said.“More than multi-crore sports complexes, the state needs mini sports centres. Youngsters can train at these mini complexes. The selected students from these centres will be given special training. Such a system is being followed in developed nations,” said Ganesh Kumar.The minister praised the services of Janaseva Sisubhavan.“When the parents struggle to give enough food and clothing to their one or two children, Janaseva has taken up the responsibility of feeding and educating hundreds of destitute children, giving utmost priority to their character formation. It is highly commendable,” he said.Janaseva Sisu Bhavan president Jose Mavely said that the proposed sports complex  will have a football court, volleyball court, basket ball court, cricket ground, and a 400 metre sports track.Many organisations have promised contributions for the venture.But government support is essential to complete the project, he said. MLAs Jose Thettayil and Anwar Sadat, district sports council president Zakir Hussain, Nedumbassery panchayat president P Y Varghese, actors Kaviyoor Ponnamma and Captain Raju attended the function.first published:August 20, 2012, 11:01 ISTlast updated:August 20, 2012, 11:01 IST
