Girls death in mishap sparks tension

VIZHINJAM: Tension prevailed at Chowara and adjacent areas after a passenger car mowed down a teenage girl late in the evening. The deceased has been identified as Susmitha,17, a resident of Chowara Harijan colony. Susmitha was returning home when an ambassador car hit her near Chowara Junction.The vehicle hit and ran over the Plus-one student, killing her on the spot.The local people who surrounded the vehicle found empty liquor bottles kept under the seat. Though the car driver managed to escape,  the local people apprehended a passenger who was drunk.Police personnel from Vizhinjam and Kovalam rushed to the spot and deviated the traffic through Pulinkudy.
