New Delhi: Though the team of 'Teri Meri Kahaani' has not left any stone unturned to promote their film, its biggest challenge will be the release of 'Gangs of Wasseypur' on the same day.
'Gangs of Wasseypur' has been acclaimed at various film festivals across the globe, but 'Teri Meri Kahaani' has a very different target audience.
While 'Gangs of Wasseypur' is a revenge drama, 'Teri Meri Kahaani' is an out and out love story. The pair of Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra is returning to the silver screen after a long time. Earlier, they were seen together in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Kaminey'. That film proved to be an image makeover for Shahid Kapoor, who was seen in such a gritty role for the first time.
On the other hand, Priyanka didn't get many scenes to prove her worth in 'Kaminey'. However, she grabbed her chances in '7 Khoon Maaf'.
The director Kunal Kohli is known for his different take on urban romance. His characters are normally educated and belong to the upper strata of the society. The promos suggest the audience to expect something similar this time too.
'Teri Meri Kahaani' is the story of two people who meet in three different eras. Shahid Kapoor plays Javed, Govind and Krish , while Priyanka Chopra is enacting Aradhana, Rukhsar and Radha. Prachi Desai and Neha Sharma will be seen in guest appearances.
The climax of the film will reveal whether the love wins over the destiny or not.
The songs of the film are already chartbusters. Composers Sajid-Wajid have come up with some youthful and peppy songs for the film. 'Mukhtsar', 'Allah jane', and 'Humse pyar' are already hit.
Shahid Kapoor is among those actors who have the potential to become an A lister star, but are not getting right films to showcase their latent talent. He needs a commercially successful film after the failure of much hyped 'Mausam'.
Priyanka Chopra is also trying very hard to be recognised as the number one actress, so 'Teri Meri Kahaani' would be an important film for her too.
With good production values, 'Teri Meri Kahaani' is likely to create its own space amidst the 'Gangs of Wasseypur' hype.
