New Delhi: Sonakshi Sinha is the lucky mascot of Bollywood these days. The project is bound to get a good opening if she is in it. Once again, she is ready to exercise her box-office charm with this week's major release 'Bullett Raja'. Directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the film features Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. It also has Jimmy Shergill, Vidyut Jamwal and Mahie Gill in prominent roles.
Sonakshi Sinha has an enviable track record. Before 'Bullett Raja', she has been seen in ten films. These films are 'Dabangg', 'Rowdy Rathore', 'Joker', 'OMG', 'Son of Sardaar', 'Dabangg 2', 'Himmatwala', 'Lootera', 'OUATIMD' and 'Boss'. Out of these films, she was not the heroine of 'OMG', 'Himmatwala' and 'Boss', so there are only seven films in which she had a full fledged role. 'Joker' is the only one commercially unsuccessful film from Sonakshi Sinha. And, many think that the film didn't do well initially because the lead actor of the film refused to promote the film on a priority basis. The film's content was also not up to the mark, and it eventually bombed, but apart from this film, Sonakshi has always delivered films that gathered moolah at the ticket window.
A reason that is often cited in support of Sonakshi's super success rate is that she does films only with established actors. Most of these actors are above 40 and among the most trusted Bollywood brands.
Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan are identified as crowd-pullers, and they have said in their interviews that Sonakshi was also the reason behind their film's success. After 'Dabangg', it was said that Sonakshi's real test will start after her second film's release, but she continued to deliver hits.
So far, she has done only one film 'Lootera' which had an actor of her age group. Her acting was praised in the film and her pairing with Ranveer Singh was also appreciated, but she went back to the earlier track with 'OUATIMD'.
Now, she is going to be seen with another relatively older co-actor in 'Bullett Raja'. Sonakshi thinks that it is her most commercial film ever. "This is Tigmanshu's most commercial film. Also, after 'Omkara', Saif will be seen in a rustic and earthy avatar, so that is something I am looking forward to in 'Bullett Raja'," Sonakshi told IANS in an interview.
However, she is quick to point out that 'even though this is Tigmanshu's most commercial film, he has not left the main essence of his style of filmmaking, which is hard-hitting with heavy dialogues.'
"It's made on a grander scale and he gave me complete freedom to do my role my way."
Tigmanshu Dhulia is also enjoying a good time at the box-office these days. He would be hoping for an instant hit with the help of his lucky heroine.
