Former Angola coach Mabi de Almeida dies at 46
LUANDA (Reuters) - Former Angola national coach Mabi de Almeida died on Sunday at the age of 46, Angola's soccer federation said on Monday. De Almeida was sacked in 2009 as head coach just seven months into his job after they failed to qualify for the World Cup finals in South Africa. He went on to coach Benfica de Luanda and then became head coach of Recreativo da Caala in the mountainous city of Huambo. De Almeida was taken to hospital during a Recreativo da Caala training session on Saturday. He died the following day, the spokesman said. Local media reports cited heart failure as the cause of death. (Reporting by Henrique Almeida, editing by Miles Evans; To query or comment on this story [email protected])
