BANGALORE: After spending 24 days at the central prison, tainted former CM B S Yeddyurappa walked free on Tuesday evening.Hundreds of Yeddyurappa’s followers gathered outside jail to welcome him. Ministers Renukacharya, Murugesh Nirani, his former secretary B G Puttaswamy, MLAs and other political leaders were awaiting him eagerly. Once the former CM walked out of jail and flashed the victory sign, the crowd went into a frenzy and raised slogans hailing him and burst crackers. Though Yeddyurappa appeared tired as he walked out of the prison gates, his face lit up after seeing the celebrations.Speaking to reporters, Yeddyurappa said that he was extremely happy that justice had finally prevailed. “I thank all my supporters for expressing solidarity with me and praying for my early release. I do not blame anybody for this. I have great respect for the judiciary and have complete faith in it. I will emerge clean in all the cases by God’s grace,” he said. Later, he headed towards Someshwara Temple in Halasur in a special convoy. As more than 100 cars were part of the convoy, vehicular movement on Hosur Road and surrounding areas were thrown out of gear for a while. Heavy police security was deployed in the jail premises in the wake of his release.
