First complete state meet of SJ(D) from October 11

The first complete state conference of the Socialist Janata (Democratic), which was launched by the section of the Janata Dal (Secular) led by M P Veerendrakumar in 2010, will begin here on October 11. The three-day event to be held at Arangil Sreedharan Nagar (Kozhikode Town Hall) comprises a volunteer march, public conference and the delegate meeting.

According to SJ(D) president M P Veerendrakumar, the complete state conference assumes much significance as the party will be re-introducing the organisational structure followed by the undivided Socialist Party of Ram Manohar Lohia.

Briefing the programmes of the event, organising committee chairman M V Shreyams Kumar MLA said that as many as 10,000 people would take part in the volunteer march and over a lakh people would attend the mass rally on October 11. This will be followed by the public conference at Jayaprakash Narayanan Nagar (Kozhikode Beach premises).

The delegate conference on October 12 and 13 will discuss resolutions on economics, politics, development and environment. A draft report on the organisational policies and the organisational report will also be presented.

Veerendrakumar will inaugurate the flag march to be led by Charupara Ravi, which will begin at the tomb of P A Harris in Kayamkulam on October 8. The flag-pole march led by V Kunhali will begin from Chombala in Vadakara on October 5.

Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan will inaugurate the march. Veerendrakumar will also kick off the torch procession, to be led by Thomas Babu and V K Kunhiraman, that will begin from Panur on October 9.
