THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M Radhakrishnan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Fort, who is probing the incident of outbreak of fire which gutted the handicrafts shed near Theerthapadamandapam at Fort here, on Thursday said that former Chief Secretary R Ramachandran Nair and V Unnikrishnan Nair, the president of District Farm Tours Society which run the handicrafts shed, are the only two who remain in the list of suspects.
Both of them had been involved in a legal dispute over the custody of the 64 cent of land on which the shed stood. Till now, the name of Unnikrishnan Nair was not in the list of suspects. But it was included after Ramachandran Nair, during his interrogation, gave a statement that it could be Unnikrishnan Nair himself who was behind the fire mishap, the Assistant Commissioner said.

On Thursday, seven more persons, including the staff of the Karthika Tirunal Theatre, which functioned adjacent to the handicrafts shed, were interrogated in connection with the incident.

The police had confirmed the fire mishap to be an act of sabotage following the word from the Forensic experts.
