Finally Facebook also launches Verified Pages and Profiles
Facebook will verify authentic identities on its own and unlike Twitter users cannot request to have a profile or Page verified.

New Delhi: That blue and white icon with a check mark is a much desired badge on Twitter. So what if even a fake account can flaunt one? Google Plus, the latecomer to the social networking party, also has its verified checkmarks. And finally the big daddy of social networks, Facebook, has also announced its own Verified Pages and Profiles.

"We're launching verified Pages to help people find the authentic accounts of celebrities and other high-profile people and businesses on Facebook," said a post on Facebook's Newsroom. Facebook will be rolling out verification for profiles as well.

The Verified Pages on Facebook will have a small, blue check mark beside their name on timelines, in search results, and elsewhere on Facebook.

Facebook says the Verified Pages will be extended to a small group of prominent public figures such as celebrities, journalists, government officials, popular brands and businesses with large audiences.

Facebook will verify authentic identities on its own and unlike Twitter users cannot request to have a profile or Page verified.
