Mumbai: The curtains came down on the three day Chivas Fashion tour which made its final bow for the season on Sunday in Mumbai. The evening saw celebrated designers like Rocky S, Wendell Rodrigues, Ayesha Depala and Shantanu-n-Nikhil showcase their new collections, each of which were inspired by different moods and elements.
"It’s inspired by the 1920's actresses. Very soft, very sensual. It’s kind of glamorous but not too much. I've used colours like ivory and black the new colour I've introduced is red, says designer Rocky S.
"The collection is inspired by vintage India, has a strong influences of what we have seen many decades ago. The colour red becomes of great prominence to us. We have then played around with the colour black to show vintage India with full energy," says designer Nikhil Mishra.
Strangely, this show seemed low on the Bollywood quotient with only Sonu Nugam, Neha Dhupia and Diya Mirza walking the ramp for hot favourites Shantanu and Nikhil.
"The outfit is designed by Nikhil and he calls it the tribal princess attire. I really felt very exotic tonight,” says actor Diya Mirza
“I’m someone who has been wearing their clothes for a very long and every time I think they can't give me a better outfit, they redeem themselves entirely," says actor Neha Dhupia.
The last word, interestingly, was by a designer himself who articulated what perhaps many have been feeling lately.
“I think models should form a union and ban celebrities from walking the ramp, we are tired of them," says Wendell Rodrigues.
Sunday evening saw the end of the fashion tour in Mumbai and the showcasing of new spring summer collection '09.
