KOCHI: Even as youngsters showcased their talents on various stages at the Rama Varma Club, old copies of The Indian Express  displayed on the centrestage brought back nostalgic memories to many. “Immediately after the stroke of 12 midnight, the Constituent Assembly of India took over the governance of the country. As the clock chimed 12, conches blew and thunderous applause and cries of Mahatma Gandhi ki jai greeted the birth of freedom,” read the first article published by The Indian Express after India earned Independence. ‘The Indian Express’ reports on the era when the country was at struggle with the British and the Father of the Nation’s death were also displayed. Moments on Indira Gandhi’s rule,  Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination that shocked the nation and placing of the first satellite on the orbit, which were ardently followed by the newspaper that was established in 1932, are being exhibited.
