Electronic goods destroyed in fire

PUDUCHERRY: An electronic goods godown was destroyed in fire that broke out early on Saturday morning.There was no loss of life, but the fire, believed to have been caused by a  short circuit, destroyed electronic goods like washing machines and refrigerators. The police said that the fire was noticed by members of the public who alerted them. Around six fire tenders were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control by 6.30 am.The Orleanpet police said that the private godown at Thiruvalluavar Salai in Pillaithottam, belonging to one Loganathan, had been leased out to Balalji Agencies, owned by Pandian from Vellore.The damage was yet to be assessed. The manager of the firm, Thiagarajan, has filed a complaint and further investigations are on.
