HYDERABAD: In an effort to bring the school dropouts back to school, the state government will organise ‘Education Fortnight’ (Chaduvula Panduga) from June 13 across the state.During the two-week programme, the school dropouts and their parents will be counselled to rejoin children in schools.Reviewing the arrangements for Education Fortnight at his camp office here on Friday, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy wanted the officials to compile the dropouts’ data and counsel them for enrolment on a daily basis.The chief minister has also asked the officials to prepare plans for construction of compound walls to all the government high schools in a phased manner using the constituency development funds of MLAs and MPs. The counselling teams comprising a teacher, a SHG group leader and a mandal resource person, will visit the houses of children who dropped out of school and convince their parents to rejoin their children in the school.As part of the Education Fortnight, 1,000 new school buildings will be inaugurated. Further, 3,569 additional classrooms under Rajiv Vidya Mission, 75 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya buildings and Anganwadi centres will be inaugurated during this fortnight.Various committees at district and mandal levels will be constituted to chalk out a plan of action and to organise daily activities.
