BELLARY: Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda, who arrived at the Bellary old airport on Friday morning, exuded confidence of the BJP’s prospects in the upcoming Bellary by-election. He was here accompanying party candidate Gadilingappa to file his nomination for the byelection.Addressing the media here he said, “No person is above the party. Our cadre matter a lot in our organisation. Any misconceptions can be solved within the party framework, but taking a one-sided decision and sticking to it is not advisable.”He expressed hope that the development initiated by the government in the last three and half years would hold the party in good stead.Gowda also said that those BJP leaders supporting Sriramulu would still be given a chance to explain themselves, else they too will face strict action. When questioned about taking action against Bellary MP J Shanta and others for supporting Sriramulu, the CM chose to react cautiously, stating that long relations will not be severed in a day or two. “Party leaders in Bellary will be asked to work for our candidate,” he said.BJP state president KS Eshwarappa who was also present when party candidate Gadilingappa filed his nomination for the byelection, reiterated CM Sadananda Gowda’s statement that workers are the strength of the BJP. He said that the BJP believes in the strength of its workers, and not in individual strengths.“Since the party workers are with us, we are hopeful of winning this election,” he said. The achievements of the state government in the last three and half years would come to the rescue of our candidate, Eshwarappa added.
