In a world full of people aspiring to buy a fancy car, a poor temple priest finally bought his dream scooter after saving up for years. The priest for the span of three years saved the coins presented to him daily by devotees to fulfill his years-old dream of his own two-wheeler vehicle.
When the coins totalled Rs 1.30 lakh, sufficient to buy his dream scooter, he took it in gunny bags and went to a TVS Showroom. Surprising the automobile showroom representatives at Palamaner in Chittoor, the temple priest walked in with a few large bags containing coins of Rs 1, 2 and 5.
At first, the TVS dealer was reluctant to accept the coins as counting them was quite a task. But on seeing the determination of the priest, they accepted the coins.
A video of the priest standing in the showroom as the representatives counted the coins is going viral on social media.
The priest, Muralidhar Acharyulu, serves at the Kalabhairava Swamy temple at Byreddipalli, a village near the Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border.
“I collected Rs 1.3 lakh, all in coins, from donations received from devotees so that I could buy a scooter,” the priest said.
In a similar case, a man, identified as Boobathi V, saved Rs 1 coins for three years to purchase his dream bike worth Rs 2.6 lakh. The man grabbed the headlines as the staff took 10 hours to count the coins.
