The Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Tuesday urged CM J Jayalalithaa to drop the idea of the State Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department’s proposal to sell temple lands for commercial and other purposes.
VHP leader Vedantam said temple lands should be utilised only for religious purposes and they should be rented out only to Hindu organisations. It went against the recommendations of the Krishnasamy Reddiyar Commission, he said, referring to reports of State Housing Board’s decision to buy land from the HR and CE Department.
