KOCHI: Even in the midst of all the controversies surrounding the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Kochi Metro, the DMRC is sure that the projects undertaken by them in the city would be completed within the stipulated time. The work of the North Railway overbridge (RoB) and the bridges at Salim Rajan Road would be completed as per the earlier schedule, said DMRC officials. “The first phase construction of the Ernakulam North RoB would be completed by September 2012. Actually we are planning to advance it by one month if possible. In the first phase, the reconstruction of bays on both sides will be done. The second phase would also be completed in nine months,” said DMRC project director P Sriram. However, Sriram added that the timely completion of the project undertaken by them would depend on proper funding by the State government officials.“We have undertaken two projects. Out of which, one is half completed and the other has about 25 per cent of the work done. We are planning to complete them within the given time, provided the money is being supplied on a regular basis,” he added. Meanwhile, there’s a strong movement going on to bring in E Sreedharan and DMRC for the construction of the Kochi Metro Rail. The Chief Minister had said that Sreedharan’s assistance would be sought for the project. However DMRC officials said that they have not received any official communication in this regard yet.
