CHENNAI: The State Assembly witnessed chaotic scenes on Tuesday when DMK members strongly objected to a graft allegation made by Law Minister C Ve Shanmugam.  Participating in the Budget discussion, A Ganesh Kumar of the PMK alleged that two days ago at the Villupuram GH, a woman with a dead foetus in her uterus was left unattended.Shanmugam responded saying, “Not even a year has passed. The medical equipment here (Villupuram GH) has been put aside as it was found unfit for use. This is the state of affairs at the hospital which was set up during the previous DMK regime,” he said and alleged corruption in the procurement of the medical equipment.Incensed, DMK members including J Anbazhagan and SS Sivasankar, demanded proof and wondered how a Minister could make such charges without evidence. Shanmugam shot back that he had evidence. As Anbazhagan continued to be on his feet stating that he was ready to accept the challenge posed to him, the Speaker ordered him to be evicted. Objecting to the Minister’s allegation and the eviction of his party members, DMK whip R Sakkarapani, along with party colleagues, walked out of the House.Municipal Administration Minister KP Munusamy said appropriate action should be taken against those who had brought down the dignity of the House.
