Customs official nabbed

CHENNAI: Sleuths of the CBI arrested four persons, including a customs examiner, at Thiruvottiyur on Saturday. They also seized cash and electronic items.According to CBI sources, a surprise check was conducted at the office of customs examiner Thenmozhi, following specific information. Cash of Rs 27,500 was seized. Three customs agents in the same office were also arrested. In a subsequent raid on Thenmozhi’s house at Pattalam, officials seized cash of Rs 55,000, 40 sovereigns of gold, property documents and 75 articles she had allegedly collected from importers. Officials also said that they had also frozen her bank account allegedly containing cash of close to Rs 4 lakh.
