BANGALORE: To all the cricket fans, who thaught Cubbon Park was a shaded place to park vehicles, while you enjoyed the victory of Karnataka Bulldozers over Mumbai Heroes, the city traffic police might have a surprise.The city traffic police will issue challans to all the vehicles parked inside Cubbon Park, which also is a ‘noparking’ zone.On Saturday, the police had informed that there was no parking in and around the Chinnaswamy Stadium and had allowed parking at the Kanteerava Stadium and B R V Grounds in order to check traffic jam near the stadium.Despite strict orders, thousands of vehicles were parked inside the Cubbon Park. Many citizens called Express to express their ire about parking vehicles inside Cubbon Park. When this was brought to the notice of Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic and Internal Security) Dr M A Saleem, he said, “Parking was not at allowed in Cubbon Park.Parking was allowed only for morning joggers. Through the help of recorded footage, vehicles which are found violating our norms will be imposed fine accordingly”. Saleem said that the video footage will be forwarded to central servers, which will issue notices and forward it to the respective owners.K Sanjeevi, member of Senior Citizen Walkman Association said, “At this juncture of increasing urbanisation, plants and trees must be saved.Parking vehicles on the lawn damages the natural resources, which needs to be condemned.” When Express spoke to Dr M Jagadish, Deputy Director of Horticulture, he said, “This is a violation of tender norms by the firm which is allowed to collect fee.The firm has violated the norm out of self interest. Photographs of it will be sent to the vehicle owners and we will take action based on the damages incurred to the park.” There were also complaints of collecting double parking fee fixed by the Horticulture Department
