Couple from Bangalore robbed of jewels, cash

COIMBATORE: A three-member gang duped an elderly couple from Bangalore of gold jewellery and cash, by making them come to Peelamedu to see a bridegroom and drugging them here on Thursday. R Soma Narayanan, 50, of  CV Raman Nagar in Bangalore is doing a real estate business there. He gave advertisements through Internet and newspapers seeking alliance for his daughter.A man named Suppa Naidu contacted Soma Narayanan saying that his son Badrinath is a software engineer and was interested in marrying his daughter. Suppa Naidu made Soma Narayanan to come to Coimbatore on Thursday.Suppa Naidu and his associates Chitharth and Venu received Soma Narayanan and his wife and arranged arranged breakfast for the couple and little later brought fruit juice. After consuming the juice, the couple became unconscious. They were shocked to see 10 sovereign of jewellery and ` 9,000 cash were found missing.
