BANGALORE:  The decision of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to restrict the number of SMS to 100 per SIM per day has hit the chief minister’s media wing which used to send out over 500 messages to the media through SMS about the CM’s engagements. The CM’s media wing used to send information on the next day’s assignments to journalists through SMS which would help them keep track of the state’s chief executive in advance.“Everyday we used to send SMS to over 500 journalists and the decision of the TRAI has adversely affected us,” Bringesh, chief minister’s press secretary informed  The News Indian Express. The number of SMS messages being sent to journalists has been reduced from 500 to 100 per day,  he added. With the TRAI’s new regulation, the CM’s media wing is planning to procure more SIM’s to restore the regular flow of information on programmes and engagements state-wide, he said. He said that the TRAI’s decision has not covered the flow of information through e-mail and we are using these services presently.  It may be recalled that TRAI regulations come after receiving a large number of complaints from the public by users regarding  unsolicited alerts coming from telemarketers and political parties.
